Maybe Hyde assumed (probably, correctly) that the O's won't score again, so he wants to save the pen.

A lot of guys who've been hot lately have been ice cold today, and we only get 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th anyway.

There must be 1/2 guys who threw last night he wants to stay away from today beyond Lakins and Sulser. Lopez is backing up Means. I can see not Tate.

Probably another reason he pushed Milone.

Also, this umpiring crew has been giving the Jays pitchers an enormous strike zone in the bottom of the 9th in the first two games, so I've no reason to believe that won't be the case today as well.

Getaway day...

Iggy could be a key to this. Get him back to SS and Valaika could play left then. You could send Smith down for someone.

Elias (and Hyde) may have stuck themselves into this position to play Smith, but don't think for a second they don't see how terrible he is out there. He is building his own coffin with the O's I would guess.
