Trout dealing with elbow contusion after HBP

Quote

Mike Troutexited the Angels' 8-2 lossto the Astros on Thursday at Minute Maid Park in the fifth inning due to a left elbow contusion. The Halos' superstar was hit by a pitch from right-hander Cristian Javier while leading off the fourth.

Trout was plunked by a 93.1 mph fastball from Javier that hit off his elbow pad but caused considerable pain for the three-time American League MVP. Trout was looked at by a trainer as he reached first base, but initially remained in the game.

Angels are finally cutting ties with Albert Pujols today.

He's due $30 million this year, the last of his 10/$240 million contract.   So the Angels are eating roughly $24 million.

His production is way down, though it hasn't gotten down to the Crusher Line yet.   Of course they are trying to contend.

Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout moved to 60-day IL, 'on target' in injury recovery, Joe Maddon says

Quote

NEW YORK -- Mike Trout was transferred to the 60-day injured list by the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, ruling out his return until after the All-Star break.

Trout swung a bat in a batting cage Monday for the first time since he strained his right calf on May 17."He's doing really well, actually," manager Joe Maddon said before the Angels opened their series against the New York Yankees with a 5-3 win. "He's on pace. He's on target."

Trout's injury is more than 50% healed, Maddon said. Trout will go on a minor league rehabilitation assignment, probably after the All-Star break. He is eligible to return July 17, when the Angels host Seattle in their second game after the break.

I’ve got O’s - Angels tickets on August 25.   It’s rare that I choose a game in order to see a specific player, but that’s the case this time.   I was hoping to see Trout, too, but it’s looking like that’s not in the cards.

Eh, Ohtani?
