I was wondering which move I wanted to see: dumping Severino, dumping Sisco, or just optioning Sisco. I wanted to dump both but that wasn’t an option.

Failing that, I wanted to dump somebody. Not option but send away, far away, where we’d never see them again and could pretend this unpleasantness was just a bad dream.

This is not the best outcome. But it’s sure better than the way things were yesterday.

So glad you have zero say in transactions with the team.  The idea that you think we should have cut Sisco when he has an option available is absurd.

You are the guy at the poker table where everyone checks and you fold even though you can still get a free card.

I would have preferred a focus on defense. Wynns is not the best defender among the available options and he doesn’t hit well. I’m sure he’s an improvement but a defense-first catcher would have been more significant.

Why are the guys only focusing on offense? Sisco isn’t hitting as well as Severino so he’s the one who goes, without consideration of defense? And Wynns only comes up because he’s been hitting well on the farm?

Besides Rutcschman, who would be a better defensive option than Wynns???

Who's the best available defensive catcher?

What makes you say Wynns was not the best option defensively?    He’s got a better defensive reputation than Cumberland.   I think he’s supposed to be decent back there.

Honestly, I refuse to invest any emotional energy on this subject.   We all know what the long term solution is at catcher.

I think the question then becomes...

Who is the backup? There is a lot to like about Handley and Cannon in the lower levels. But they won’t be up for a bit either, probably not when Adley spends his first season or two, as long as they keep progressing and don’t slump out.

Fair point.   Once Adley is up I think we’ll be more in a true starter/back-up split with Adley getting 75% of the reps, unlike now where it’s been more like 65/35.    So, the role of the second catcher will be less important.   Maybe Wynns will show he can handle that.

He must be your nephew or some thing, he’s terrible, he has given no sign that he will ever not be terrible. I am quite happy to keep him around, but I am also quite happy to send him on his way.

I don’t know, I’m happy to have him here my point was that he was probably promoted because he’s hitting very well at the moment and not because he is outstanding defensively.

Honestly I don't know about that.   He has a reputation as a decent defensive C, definitely better than the two guys we had up here.   That might be as big a part of his promotion as the good 4 week start with the bat, given the lack of hitting throughout most of his minor league career.   I doubt the Orioles expect him to hit much, but they do expect he will be better behind the plate than what we have seen.

I like him, please don’t misunderstand me I’m not suggesting that he’s not the best available to fender, I don’t know whether that’s true or not, I was just saying and perhaps I should’ve made it clear for all the people here, That he was probably promoted because he was hitting best

Yes that’s exactly my expectation. SUPERIOR defense and as good or better offense. What I’ve been clamoring for for a long time.

Wynns MLB career OPS is .610.   DOn't expect much on the offense.  Although it won't be hard to improve on Sisco's .431 this year so far.

Yes that’s why I said,” as good or better.”

Im pretty sure most warm bodied humans could do as well.
