Beat me by bare seconds.

I went with the Athletic article.

It will be paid for, at least partially, by a tax on teams spending more than 180M.  They are short on details at this time.

The tax that funds it.

The owners are attempting to move the current soft cap down to 180M.

That's my guess at any rate.

Yea but if the floor is moved way up, the players should still get their money.

Maybe worried that the top teams can’t go as crazy???

I'm hopeful this is the the start of a fair agreement and we have a smooth negotiation.

I'm just throwing out why the players might have an issue.

I have little faith that the owners won't try and make this floor an advantage.

I'd want to have the fine print explained to me.

It's good to have a dream. If Manfra really pushes this, anything even resembling a Cap.... MLBPA will walk out. I guarantee it.

Just replace "Union" with "Strike" and it's perfect.

This year’s free agent crops will absolutely love a $100M floor.  At first glance, the reduction of cap and increase of tax actually seems like that would help deep pocket teams like NYY and LAD.

I think SG mentioned it before, but MLB should really look into what the NBA does in terms of Bird rights and such to help keep stars in town.
