I'm not disagreeing with the decision, or struggling to understand it.

Just commenting on the speed at which the decision was reached.  As far as we know he hasn't had the results of the second opinion yet.

The timing is interesting to me

The Oriole orthopedist can read an MRI report.Basically long rest or surgery This year will be pretty much short either wsy.

Sure.  But it is a departure from past behavior in which they generally delayed injury decisions.  I'm curious as to the 40 man addition.

Diplan was the 40 man addition. If they want Ellis to start Tuesday, they'll need to make another 40 man move

Obviously something changed with Means .60 is alot  more then 10 days

From Roch:

Wells wasn’t going to be available for few days. Diplan is fresh arm. Hyde said nothing changes with Means. Getting 2nd opinions. Tuesday starter TBA. Day off for Mullins and Urias. Hyde hopes Sanders and Mansolino join team on West Coast

The orthopedist is actually the second opinion.

This initial opinion is the radiologist who interprets the imaging and prepares the report for the orthopedist.

The orthopedist reviews that report and the imaging themselves and forms their diagnosis.

Seeking another opinion is actually the third set of eyes to interpret the imaging. So there have already been at least two sets of eyes who have seen the imaging.

And then maybe keep him in the winning environment of Norfolk rather than exposing him to a hopeless atmosphere in Baltimore. Then decide that maybe it's better not to burn his first year of service time on a team that's going to lose anyway and just for next spring and start fresh.  (joking, sort of)

Then go through the same process all over again... 😛

You are right. Also I know that certain hospitals have a tumor board meeting every week, where the radiologists and surgeons, etc. discuss the results from certain MRI's,CT scans and PET scans to discuss a course of action or options for the patient

It would be great if Adley started playing baseball at some point and if Cowser could stop striking out.  Between them and good old Heston I'm getting depressed thinking about our 1st rounders.

Adley likely plays latter part of this week per Norfolk announcers. Doing live bp in the next day or two.

Who is Heston? I don’t think he’s a real person. adley is lost in Florida. Chowder yea. I think I saw a box score in spring training but that’s about it.
