If you are going to put him in the top third of the order, I'd rather 3rd. I like Adley in the 2-hole and like that Adley as a switch hitter at least breaks up the lefties a bit (even if he's struggled a bit swinging from the right-side).

Mullins (CF), Adley (C), Henderson (3B), Santander (DH), Mountcastle (1B), Stowers (RF), Hays (LF), Urias (2B), Mateo (SS)

I don't care for Urias in the 4-hole, but wouldn't mind him higher than I put him above. I also don't think we'll see Henderson that high in the order yet, but maybe next year.

Agreed. That should 100% be the new everyday lineup. The best defense as well. Having Santander at DH and not RF, helps any D upgrade from Odor to Urias at 2B.

I’m jelly being in Greece and unable to watch highlights until the wake-up’s.  But what a great surprise today!  😃  Home tomorrow night!

I’m heading there Saturday. Really in opportune timing with the Os fighting for a playoff spot. Don’t think the wife would appreciate me watching games at 4am or whatever time.

I was thinking the same thing with the single.  That ball rocketed off the bat with such violence it looked like a classic Cody Bellinger swing where you wonder how the ball doesn't end up out of the stadium.

This is based on absolutely nothing material, but the perceived bat speed and loud "pop" of that hit reminded me of what it looked/sounded like when I first watched Vladdy hit with the Jays. I hope there is more of that to come. Either way, one hell of an exciting debut.

Well then it totally made no sense for the Orioles to be playing Henderson at 2B and 1B so much over the last week. I mean we all get the Orioles fascination with Odor at 2B, so that's not really surprising, but why play your top prospect at mostly 2B/1B over the last 11 games then claim he's mostly going to play 3B and SS?

It seems to indicate that the entire organization is not always on the same sheet of music as much as we like to think they are.

Could just be as simple as them wanting him to have more versatility.  I never felt he was really going to play on the right side.

I'm assuming if Mountcastle or Odor goes down with an injury they'd look to him to be able to fill that spot.  Probably due to his sheer athleticism they'll try to see how versatile he can be and it's better to do that in the minors than on the fly in the majors.  At least now he'd have an idea of what he'd be getting into at either position.

When you are running out sub replacement level player at 2B and you don't think Urias is the guy to replace him, then it made some sense for the rest of this year to have him play some 2B, even though longterm he's going to be on the left side of the infield.

Perhaps. The Orioles are all about moving guys around in the minors leagues with just about everyone playing another position or two outside of their main one. It just seemed weird they didn't play him all year at 2B or 1B then 11 games before he gets promoted he plays 6 games at 2B and 3 at 1B only to have the manager say he's not going to play there much.

I don't see them giving less playing time to Henderson or Urias. Seems like everyone's just going to be on a rotation. Udor's defense has picked up, but as much as I'd like to bench him, I'd also like to get Santander out of the field. Not sure what their plan with Stowers is. Odd lineup tonight.

Watching the game replay now.  These guys, usually drunk, that yell stuff at ballgames are stupid, but entertaining.  Yeah, nothing says overrated like going 2 for 4 in your MLB debut w/ a HR and great defense.

This is my favorite baseball heckle of all time.

Also, the overrated chant is more of a compliment than anything else.

    • If you're going to cry, you could at least be factually correct about the things you're crying about.
    • Agree. Unfortunately, they sucked more when he caught.
    • I was just asking for clarification.  So it seems you're asking for changes that aren't able to be implemented in the off-season and can't be evaluated well into next season. That's fine so long as you're ready to be disappointed this off-season.
    • I don’t think the OH brother ship can be categorized as the “average fan”.    I think posters here are quite a bit beyond. I don’t think the average fan is regularly posting on a fan site
    • Drungo's One Trophy label for the setup of US sports playoffs was new lingo to me recently, and Adley and Gunnar have a long way to go to get near the Active WAR leaders, who also in brilliant careers have zero dogpiles.     Many of them this week we get to see killing themselves for one taste.     Rundown of the top notables, with career rWAR as the top tier of 2024 Clubs begin play today. 86, Mike Trout - his life is his to do with as he chooses, but as a baseball fan I'm rooting for him to go another path before it is too late. 62, Paul Goldschmidt - way past peak.    The 2025 Orioles may be one of few teams with very high playoff odds to want him for a starting role if a Zero Ryan path is charted.    Much more so than any current Oriole, he's been what we hope Coby Mayo might become. 57, Manny Machado - a yardstick of the Dodgers' greatness.    Players like him or Trea Turner or Corey Seager, Andrew Friedman's judgment sometimes is "Nah, not good enough". 56, Nolan Arenado - guaranteed 3/74 on the rest of his contract, perhaps waiting for a buy-side trade.     Declared lame duck GM scenarios are unusual. 52, Jose Ramirez - a player who has devoted himself to one small-market team, and that Club's unquestioned leader, something the Orioles don't have yet.      Some of Adley's teammates and ex-teammates might be salty about recent choices. 52, Aaron Judge - an amazing early 30's peak - problems for the Orioles if he endures like Nelson Cruz or Barry Bonds.    Career health track record has some dings. 51, Bryce Harper - a Manny Machado bookend in my baseball fandom.    They've grown from brash kids to serious professionals - both played much of 2024 less than 100% same as Adley. 49, Francisco Lindor - so close along with Jose Ramirez against the Bryant/Rizzo/Hyde Cubs.     The back strain poetic considering the carrying he's been doing as David Stearns gets ready for his first full off-season running Steve Cohen's club. 49, Andrew McCutchen - nearly the Jose Ramirez of the Pirates.   Nice to see him winding down respectably there.    I'll have generally good wishes for him if he pushes to get to be Paul Skenes teammate for a full season. 44, Giancarlo Stanton - he is upright today, the main thing Brian Cashman cares about.    rWAR has his last 3 seasons worth less than 1 WAR. 43, Shohei Ohtani - one of the greatest players ever has made some choices none of these other greats have to try and tilt the odds in his favor.    His MLB postseason debut is tonight.    Kind of a fun fact rWAR this moment has him at half Trout. It is possible none of these guys escape this list if the Royals or Tigers come through.
    • Rogers 🤮   if we have that rotation I’m betting our win total takes another 5-10 game step backwards
