Thursday's starter?

wildcard

Recommended Posts

Watkins and Bradish seems lined up to pitch Tuesday and Wednesday.  Not necessarily in that oder.   But who will be the sixth starter that is needed on Thursday because of the doubleheader of Sunday?

Could Mike Baumann get called up to make the start hoping to get 4 innings from him?  He was optioned on April 29th which I think means he only has to stay in the minors for 10 days.    Or May 10th.

What is your guess for Thursday's starter?

Well, Thursday would be 4 days of rest for Grayson. He pitched Saturday.

Just sayin!

But in all reality it will be a bullpen game of some sort. Perhaps Kevin Smith is an option, as he only pitched 1 inning on Sunday. Easy roster add with a 60-day IL for Wells or Ellis. Though he allowed 3 base runners in that scoreless inning, so, not ideal.

Baumann hasn't even been starting in Norfolk.

Probably a bullpen game of some type.   If we don't use Keegan Akin again before then, he would figure in.   Probably Logan Allen too.

I don't see Allen starting this soon.  I think Hyde is looking for a low leverage spot to get him in a game.

Well then we should trade him now because if he can’t hack it pitching every 5th day, we should be capitalizing on his immense value.

I don't think he will need 5 days rest for ever.   I just don't think his first  start in the majors will be on 4 days rest if he hasn't successfully done that at AAA.

Well I doubt they do a bullpen game without adding a fresh arm, so my guess is Smith or Lowther get added for a spot start. Or maybe they add Vespi and have Akin be an opener.

Lowther? Really!  Why don't they just forfeit?

I noticed that about Smith's appearance yesterday. Unless he was pulled for injury that has to be a sign something is up. Could figure in the bullpen even if he doesn't start.

Then the Angels should release Ohtani and Syndergard because they plan to give them 5 days off all year.

I haven't heard of any injuries but it took him 30 pitches to get through his one inning of work. I doubt that's the guy they want to start on Thursday. If Lowther doesn't start this week, I'm guessing it's him or Allen.
