The ESPN2 Kids Cast is trying to attract kids to the game... by showing the actual game picture-in-picture while Rob Manfred talks about golfing with Roger Goodell.

Yeah I've seen several games this season where they have done that. Luckily it hasn't cost anybody an error yet. It's pretty entertaining

These live on the field player interviews are unique but how they are not distracting esp if a difficult play happens is amazing

Never felt good about that either. That said, Mountcastle was very entertaining when he was earlier this year. One play he had to either run in for a bunt or something and he said, "man I was gassed getting back to that ball".

I think this has been a very fun...broadcast so far.  I love how much fun the Orioles players seem to be having.

I don’t care about this being played in Williamsport, though it’s an overall nice publicity shtick. 
 

I will say that the thing that’s bringing me the most joy about this is the fact that 8 or 9 months ago, the producers at ESPN figured they’d need two teams for this game and decided on the Sox and Orioles. And there’s no doubt in my mind that they figured the Sox would be in a playoff race and that the Orioles would just show up to get their brains beat in on a national stage.

They had Kike Hernandez mic'ed up earlier in the year and it was awesome to watch. He had 5-6 balls hit to him, a throw to the plate. Very fun and entertaining to watch.

They said they wanted to interview Mullins next inning about the World Baseball Classic. Wonder if he’ll be playing for team USA?

Seeing houses out past the wall reminds me a tad of Memorial Stadium. Different kinds of homes (40s era townhouses in Baltimore, maybe?). Almost in the same position as well, right center.

Santander doesn't run out an XBH, then thrown out on terrible baserunning decision. It's all good, though.
