Great point about Cruz. It's not always a guarantee the last year won't work out. I was just thinking that myself.

After they didn't get Rizzo I thought the Astros had Abreu if they wanted him.  I didn't think the O's would outbid the Astros.

I was one of them and I feel no regret whatsoever.

Cruz violated every known law of player progression and regression for some "mysterious" reason.

People are mentioning his power dropoff...we don't need him for power. I wanted his solid all around bat in the lineup.  He is also very durable.

Orioles set on LH hitters though, even though the first year stats say OPACY will still play more favorably to righties.

That would shock me.  His last deal was 3/$50 mm at age 33.

Jon Heyman of The New York Post says it will be around $20MM per year, putting the guarantee in the vicinity of $60MM.

Jim Crane is running the ship.   He just gave Rafael Montero, a good not great reliever, 3/34.5M.
