Rank the four “big” offseason moves

Simply put, how would you rank these, 1 to 4, and why?   I’m not asking for commentary on how good the moves were in an absolute sense or whether we’ve done enough.  In chronological order:

1.  Signed Kyle Gibson for 1/$10 mm

2.  Signed Adam Frazier for 1/$8 mm

3. Traded Luis De La Cruz for James McCann and took on 2 yrs/$5 mm in salary obligations

4. Traded Darrel Hernaiz for Cole Irvin and Kyle Virbitsky

You can just rank them using these numbers for shorthand.  Which did you like best, and which was worst, in your opinion?

Pretty good chance that Irvin is a member of the rotation for two maybe three years.  Gibson should be a decent rotation member for the year.  McCann should be a fine backup as long as he isn't used for much else.  Frazier I think was a misstep.

Improving the backup catcher spot should improve the team’s W/L record in ‘23. Instead of losing 80% of our Sunday games, maybe we’ll go .500 or better. The other moves are all just treading water or worse (the Frazier signing).

I think Frazier impacts this team more than McCann. I will admit that the Frazier move is growing on me and I’m buying into that LH batters will do better without the shift.

4,1,3,2.  Trade for Irvin was good,  signing Gibson was ok, trading for McCann was ok, signing Frazier was stupid.

When the Frazier signing first happened I felt pretty okay with it, but I was assuming he was a supplemental piece…not the offensive crown jewel of the off season. Reflecting on it now, it is really a terrible signing.

4, 1, 2, 3 - Even noting our W/L % with Bemboom/Chirinos last year, I think the backup C is overrated.  I do question Frazier from an org build/budget perspective, but it did bring in a guy who can improve the offense on a daily basis.

I'm not really upset with the Frazier signing, but I didn't see it as something we needed to do, so I rate it below the other 3.

Gibson is 1 or 2 but only because it's replacing Lyles, not because it significantly improves the team. But with Lyles gone, we had to replace him.
