Speaking of Team Cohesiveness, the Orioles owe a debt of gratitude to Rougned Odor, Jordan Lyles, and Robinson Chirinos for helping to create the culture of team cohesiveness beginning last season.

Say what you will about their on the field play, but they were great teammates in the club house who helped the younger players in any way they could.

And yet, they’re gone and the team is much better.  😎

I'm just saying for a bunch of inexperienced rookies who never played in the big leagues and a bunch of waiver wire claims used to losing, the franchise needed the right personalities to change the culture and they did. There was a big article at the beginning of 2022 how the whole binocular thing was made up by Rougie just to build comradery, because he had been on a bunch of teams where there wasn't good cohesiveness and he saw how it can affect players.

So when they were playing Call of Duty and bonding in their down time, he took that to the field to maintain the bind and have a little more fun. The idea to use a Home Run prop was also said to have been a Odor idea.

Jordan Lyles was a mentor for alot of the rookies on the pitching staff who had never seen a faced a league batter before. Then to lead by example, he proceeded to pitch the most innings on the entire team which was important in their turnaround.

Even Gunnar credited Rougie for helping him out when he was called up. And this was Rougie knowing full well some of these guys were there to take his spot on the roster.

Who hadn't faced a big league batter before?

I'm sure they all had.

If you spend any time at all in the minors you are going to end up facing a guy that has played in the majors.

It's mostly about talent.  You can have more culture than a case of Oikos but if you don't have talent you aren't going to win.
