Air Quality vs Royals

The Maryland Department of the Environment shows an AQI forecast of under 100 for Friday and Saturday, so should be no risk of postponement just a typical moderate hazy day.

The potential for rain on Friday is probably the bigger concern at this point.

This is like a normal summer in LA, lol.

I'm pretty sure the Dodgers played a game in an AQI of over 200 in 2020.

I'd work out a Dyson sponsorship.

And if you really want to work out, you can always sponsor one of these... https://www.amazon.com/Training-Performance-Fitness-Breathing-Official/dp/B071ZQTCC1/ref=asc_df_B071ZQTCC1?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=79989588740907&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583589115377131&th=1&psc=1

And when people ask, tell 'em you're going to be in the new Mortal Kombat movie.

I hate being stuck inside all day long. I like to take 30 minutes outside every day. Usually going for a run. I even got this badass sleeping bag that is rated -10 degrees below zero. Picked it up online. I went outside in December when it was 6 degrees outside and slept in it to check it out. The bag works, I stayed warm.

Air quality in Fed Hill about 15 mins from the stadium was pretty decent this morning. Could clearly see Domino Sugar sign for first time in a couple days. Hope the wind doesn't blow any more smoke in and we play some ball tonight.

I work for the air quality agency in CT.  MLB and the minors have a rule that they cancel the game if the PM rating is 200 or worse.  The Yard Goats (Hartford AA) called us Tuesday to ask about it.

You can either look up a local AQI page or use the Purple Air website to get a sense of whether the game will be cancelled.

Given that map there's a chance they play today and the air quality is improving over the weekend.

There's also a decent chance of rain showers this afternoon which will help even more with the air quality. Tonight's game is going to get played and I wouldn't have said the same yesterday.

Cool site, thanks. There is one place about north in Alberta province where the air quality is 520 and it was 810 at 9AM yesterday! 😲

I did some research and it's Fox Lake which has a huge fire. My prayers are with those people.

I saw 435 in Harrisburg yesterday morning.  Good thing @justDgot out of there!

The last time I was in Tustin, CA (2008) - I'm not sure what the number was, but you could see ash falling out of the sky from the wildfires. It was thick.

My wife yesterday kept asking me "you can't smell that?" I couldn't smell anything. It just looked like a hazy day.

    • A question precedes #2: when will the left field wall be fixed?  I think I remember Elias saying they probably went too far, which is quite literally true.  No reason they can't fix it quickly.  I had no problem with them moving it back but it is pretty absurd where it is.
    • On #3, I would guess that Elias is very wary about going longer than 3 years for a starting pitcher (maybe four years if pitcher is younger and AAV is favorable).  I think Mike and Sig believe the history of long-term SP deals isn’t favorable and the wrong deal could derail a mid-market team with dead money.  I’m not sure they are wrong (e.g., Patrick Corbin, Strasberg).   I don’t think ownership cares directly; I would guess they just give Elias an annual baseball ops budget and forecast and he can choose how he manages against that.   Not in play Gerrit Cole Corbin Burnes Max Fried Blake Snell Jack Flaherty    Possible free agent targets Yusei Kikuchi Nathan Eovaldi Nick Pivetta Sean Manaea Luis Severino Alex Cobb Max Scherzer Justin Verlander Jose Quintana Frankie Montas Spencer Turnbull Andrew Heaney Matthew Boyd   Possible trade targets Garret Crotchet Sandy Alcantera Jesus Luzardo Eduardo Cabrera Reid Detmers Emerson Hancock Jordan Montgomery Lance McCullers Jr.
    • Is Webb anything special.  I would rather replace Webb with Norfolk shuttle guy.
    • Our SS is Gunnar, our CF in this scenario would be Cowser, and C is Adley. Hopefully none of those guys are in contention for being the team's worst hitter next season. We don't need a power bat in LF - we need to add a good contact bat, that can use all fields and run.
    • Kemp was part of it but bringing back 2 UTIL IF is blocking your best prospect when your manager covets veteranosity. If they aren’t resigned then Holliday gets a longer leash.
    • LF is a bit of a waste of a spot for #9 hitter.  Its not a premium defensive position so you shoudl be able to get a decent bat who can also play there.  If you're worst hitter isn't an SS, C or CF, either you're contending for a WS , or something isn't quite right.  And this team isn't quite WS contenders just yet.
    • A lot could change between now and then, but right now he's the 4th starter. I like Povich more than most around here and think he can be a solid 4th starter. He may have been command days, but he doesn't get hit hard.  The cool new Baseball Savant chart shows his fastball and curve and have above average movement and is why his slightly below average velocity (.9 MPH below MLB avg for LHP) plays up a bit.
