Mariners looking to trade pitching for hitting?

I mean, Dipoto loves to trade so maybe just the thought of a 3 for 1 would excite him?

In all seriousness, I see your points.  I think since the Mariners are competing, they might not be as interested in prospects, but perhaps a 10-15 prospect from the O's on top of Hays/Urias/Irvin would make it work.  One of many options the Orioles have, whether its the M's or another team.  Should be an interesting few weeks.

I could see them interested in MLB ready prospects like Ortiz and Norby to help improve their infield and be projectable pieces for the longer term. I could even see them wanting a Santander or a Hays, maybe even a Urias. I don't see them wanting Cole Irvin though.

One aspect of a potential Orioles / Mariners deal that I don’t think has be mentioned is that the Seattle organization (and their fanbase) is probably still smarting from the Bedard trade from 15 years ago. The Mariners will analyze and dissect any new deal between the teams at a granular level to make sure there’s no repeat of the previous mistake. Of course on the surface a new trade would be the exact opposite of the Bedard trade — we’d be getting an established pitcher and they’d probably be getting a mix of prospects and current major leaguers. But I don’t think they’d sign off on any player exchange with Baltimore where there was any question as to the quality and quantity of what they were getting. If we deal with the Mariners I think they’ll do everything in their power to stick it to us if they can, more so than any other team we’d negotiate with.

I don't think the current Mariner front office is overly worried about a trade that happened 15 years ago, under a prior regime.

Santander and Urias for Woo or Miller and Ty Adcock.

Would you do that?

Orioles might need to throw in another minor leaguer in their top 10 to get two of those.   There probably is a deal out there for one of them though.

We’ve made. Sit back and enjoy.

Every contender is always going to look for relief help at the deadline and in the offseason. That’s a given. Most contenders will look to pick up a rental SP(like Giolito) at the deadline to put them over the top.

The horses are here or in the system. Now it’s just time to win.

But not at any cost….if they have a model that they are going to try to emulate. Deviation would mean they weren’t serious about it

This is non-sensical.
