Victor Victor Mesa abandons the Marlins organization midseason

I remember a lot of folks here were really high on this guy, and were hoping he’d sign with us. Looks like we dodged a $5 million bullet.

I don't remember his circumstances but assuming he, as most other Cubans have needed to do in order to sign a MLB contract, established residency in a third-party country, he would hold a H2-B Visa or P-1 (depending on his contract and agreement with Immigration/Dept of State). If he quit, or is released from his contract and doesn't sign with another team or another employer willing to sponsor his visa than yes, he technically has 90 days to leave the country.

Oh man, I think I was pretty much all in on Victor Victor Mesa.  Hard to believe that was 5+ years ago.

Talk about Mesa generated a 193 page thread (phone version) in four months back in 2018, and @Tony-OHgot so tired of it he closed the thread.  Talk about much ado about nothing!  I’m glad we didn’t waste our money on the guy.

I don't think much of the talk was really about Mesa so much as about the team trading for additional International slots and not using them.  

The three Cubans were all that was left.
