As I recall it Wiggins had a falling out with the Padres and the Orioles tried to buy low in him. Earl. Weaver reportedly hated Wiggins and his approach to the game when he managed the O's during his second stint.

My only memory of Wiggins was him getting tagged out when the first baseman faked a throw back to the mound.
