My buddy asked me if I wanted to go see Pearl Jam earlier this year...

Meh, I'm good. I prefer to remember them circa 1997-1998 or so.

Now the truth of the matter is Billy Joel is a much different show than Pearl Jam. You aren't gonna have mosh pits and crowd surfing, etc... so it's not the same thing.

I'm a music snob. Not Can of Corn snobby or anything, but if I'm paying $100 for tickets, I need the music & vox to be tight. And in my experience, the older they get, the looser they get.

Yeah, I said it. Take that statement down any rabbit hole you desire.

That would be a big stretch to get Camden set for a major concert after a noon or 1pm game.  I'm just talking about the stage and sound crew, that's not much time.  Billy Joel may need to re-schedule.

The concert isn't at Camden - it's at M&T Bank.

Ohhh, got it.

It's a shared parking lot issue.

Takes AT LEAST an hour after the baseball game ends to completely empty the parking lots that the two stadiums share.   And I think it's probably more like 90 minutes.   Then you can start letting people in for the evening event.

Should have gone to see them.  Still one of the best live rock bands, ever.  Flew to St. Paul for a show over Labor Day weekend and though the shows are a bit shorter than they used to be (still 20+ songs and 2+ hours) and Eddie's voice isn't all that it once was, they're still great.  On-stage production has actually gotten better as they've gotten older.  90's Pearl Jam couldn't be bothered with any of that.

Never been a super fan of Billy Joel, but Stevie Nicks is another story. It's sad many of these great bands/singers from 70s/80s are ending and/or passing away.

It will be interesting to see what wins out, college football or MM&T/Camden parking logistics. College football is generally king.

I saw Pearl Jam and had no idea I was about to. My then-girlfriend got tickets to a show in 1996 for my birthday, which falls in September at a comedy club/bar in Seattle called the Showbox. Turns out the live music was Pearl Jam and it was great, there were probably 600 people there, lot of fun. I knew they were playing the Key Arena that week so never would I have thought they were playing at a local club a couple of days before.

One of the coolest birthday presents I have received.

75 & 74 years old respectively.

Surely a lively show!!!

:skeletor:

They’re almost old enough to run for President, but not quite!

I went to a James Taylor concert at Wolf Trap a few weeks ago.  He’s looking and sounding pretty good for 75.   Of course, most of his big hits are on the mellow side anyway.
