Luis Severino?

It doesn't have to be Severino himself, but I do hope Elias buys upside more than safety with whoever he gets.

Gibson and especially Lyles were sponges to fill out 1425 innings.     Means is back and all three young RHP had at least successful finishes if not great seasons.    I think we can use playoff quality, even if it is riskier and might not pan out, more than assured quantity at a bleh performance level.

This quote makes me like Severino.  He was a legit TOR pitcher in 17-18 and pitched like at least a #3 when he pitched in 22.  He’d be a tough sell though.

The mental aspect is so important.  He did have a strong finish.  Cherry-picking his last 4 games:  21.2 IP, 18:4 K:BB ratio, 2.49 ERA, 4.09 FIP, .200/.247/.363/.610 slash against.

So many unknowns is textbook risk.  The ceiling is what we need but everything else is an issue.

I wonder if there’s an appetite in the warehouse to sign more than 1 SP…?  He’d be a good second SP target.
