...in the lineup?

Seriously.

Is it Mazzone, Duq, Flanny, or Angelos (I won't even include MacPhail)?

There is no way any reasonable baseball observer can look at Dcab's performances lately and justify him remaining in a starter role. Not when you have several other arms on the farm or the bench who can do the job.

MSK

D Cabrera, 7.0-IP, 4-H, 1-R, 1-ER, 1-BB, 3-SO, 0-HR, 114-68-PC

I wonder how many starting pitchers in today's game would like to have this linescore?

Armando "The faster I throw it in, the faster it goes out" Benitez, Rocky Coppinger who absolutely lit it up in the minors, but couldn't put it together in the majors, and, to me, Chris Ray. I find Ray to be infinitely more frustrating than Cabrera.

Tampa Bay is fifth in the AL in team OPS. They are not a bad hitting team.

Tonight was what I would call a typical Cabrera outing. Shaky at first, no idea where the ball is going, but survives a couple of jams with some timely double plays. After minimal damage, he settles in and cruises to the 7th. This pattern indicates he is developing as a pitcher, i.e., learning how to pitch.

Seems now on OH, DCab is suffering from Tejada syndrome. If he's not dominant, we become frustrated and say he's a bum -- instead of just accepting the player for what he offers. In the case of DCab at least he offers (beyond his current skills as a no. 3-4 starter) the upside of learning his craft and improving that way, even if he never realizes that "dominant" potential.

That's mainly because their pitching SUCKS...

Okay, the point here is that its TAMPA BAY. WE SHOULD beat Tampa Bay.

But against the Yankees? Red Sox? When it matters?

Think about it...

Well, going into tonight the D-Rays were 15 games under .500 overall and we were 14 games under .500 against everyone except the Devil Rays. Everything other than the head-to-head record indicates that we are almost as bad as they are.

MSK

The Orioles are 6-3 against the Yankees in 2007.

BTW - TB, is 6-6 against the Blue Jays and 4-3 against he Twins in 2007... so those teams must be bad?
