The Marlins interest in Mondesi as a starting shortstop with this kind of injury history is risky/baffling.  I guess it’s just a $$  cost not a talent cost as Mateo might be.

Probably seeking playing time. Not a huge surprise but I thought the consensus was there was a good chance he would be back. This would seem to more or less guarantee one of Kjerstad/Cowser will be one the roster from day one, which then gives McKenna an edge for the last man.

Joc Pederson has one of those Jordan Lyles flattery options that will be bought out with a high degree of likelihood.

For Santander yardstick purposes, it is probably fair to regard him as a $12.5 AAV for 2024, though standard nod of appreciation to the Diamondbacks economic analyst for slow rolling ~25% of the pay.

That's coming off a tepid 111 OPS+ 2023 in which Joc did enjoy the Qualifying Offer salary level thanks to the 146 OPS+ 2022.

Justin Turner with a 114 OPS+ and a wee bit of glove looks like he's getting the Craig Kimbrel ~$14mm.

Will Jorge Soler over or under Teoscar Hernandez?

17.  Dean Kremer is most likely to fade out, particularly if Tyler Wells can rebound.

18. Cole Irvin was one of the nicest guys but was fully expecting to be non-tendered and was shocked the Orioles gave him $2M but still might not make the team.

#5 about HK’s dad is strange.  What’s the context?  

#8 about Mateo would be disappointing.  Their metrics and roster build goals are different than my fantasy management experience dictates.

Unless I misunderstand the context this is incorrect.  Hyde has nothing to do with marketing events-players have to do a certain amount of appearances as per the CBA and Marketing decides not Hyde.

Yes,usually you have to appear at an event like Fanfest per your contract unless  you have a good reason for missing it.
