I think this injury means that Povich will get more starts with the Orioles this season than we all thought. Man, we went into the season with these starters:
Burnes, Bradish, Grayson, Means, Wells, Kremer, Irvin, Suarez and Povich
We now are relying on starters 7, 8 and 9 to win
Interesting that you think those guys at 33 and 31 with higher career ERAs are better than Kremer who’s 28. Plus the WAR indicates 3.8, 2.9, and 3.4 are very similar. Fedde has been worth 3.1 so far this season which means he was a negative WAR guy to start the season.
We know he has a UCL injury. He came into the season with a UCL injury. It was obvious 2 starts ago when they decide to give him a week+ off.
This will end with TJ surgery, and for his sake I hope they do it quickly instead of coaxing a few more starts out of him
This seems to be happening quite frequently around the league. Which makes me rethink the idea of giving players early extensions in their young careers. Baseball is a difficult game and no season in a player's career is exactly like another. Baseball is a volatile game. There's so many things that can happen to a player's habits and mechanics that can change his results in the game. (Speaking of no season being the same, how many batting stances did we see Cal Ripken Jr go through over the course of his career? ALOT.)
