Dean Kremer 2024

Recommended Posts

He was definitely salty about getting pulled. Which makes me think he WASN'T just going through the motions, which is a pretty bad sign.

Elias was on the broadcast just jiving the usual prospect stuff. Must have been there to get a look at Dean.

As painfully average as he can be sometimes, we need him, and I'm glad he's coming back so we can push Suarez to the bullpen where he will succeed more often. Hopefully we keep Povich up here.

Elias should be there to pick up Mayo and give him a ride to Baltimore.

It's painful how beyond ready he is. I get why Roy makes a thread about it every day lol.

I think we have to wait for the deadline though. Or for someone to step in a pothole.

Mayo with 3 more hits today, including a HR (his 20th) and double....he's hitting .314 with an OPS of 1.003..what in the hell are we waiting for? Lets GO!

Pitching and defense are a bigger issue than offense with this team.  He'll get his chance.

I don’t count Mayo’s HR’s anymore unless they are over 400’ feet.  It’s not fair what he is doing to AAA.

I agree but it takes two teams to trade. No one is DFAable on this roster.

Why would it make you think he wasn't going through the motions? I'm sure he felt strong enough to continue and may have wanted to get some more work in. Not sure why everything here has to be over-analyzed to the point of absurdity. Nothing about what happens in AAA matters, guys aren't there to dominate and win games, they are there to work on getting the feel back on their pitches and see how they feel.

We are waiting for Elias to trade for more bats and more depth that have last names that are food based. That way in 2027 our lineup can be constructed to look like Mike Elias' average order from Subway.

At this point I don't want to say it is embarrassing?  But it is embarrassing.  Any other team, including the Dodgers, would have Mayo up by now.

You drafted these guys to be part of the Os future.   What more do they want at this point?

More and more Elias reminds me of Chris Ballard, the GM for the Colts, who have not won a division title since he has been there.....8 years.

Great drafter, but just cannot finish the deal.

We won a division title last year.  Also, we have like 6 Coby Mayo threads at this point can we get this one back to Dean Kremer?

Not that it means too much, but it’s not that surprising to see him struggle in the minors considering how hard he’s been hit in the majors this year (his xwOBACON is 143rd out of 145 pitchers that have 200 or more plate appearances this year). Last year he was 16th worst in that stat out of 100 qualifiers. Kremer is fine as a 4/5 but he’s just not that good, and certainly isn’t good enough to be a number 3 on a team with World Series aspirations.

If your 1st two guys dominate and offense gets some runs in both their starts it doesn’t matter who is the number 3 or 4 starters.   The Rangers and Diamondbacks didn’t have good number 3 or 4 starters for playoffs last year.

    • Everything revolves around the health of the player. I think Gunnar has more. I think the collision with Mateo set Gunnar back and affected him in ways we will never know. I'm no mind specialist but Gunnar is young plays all out, and that had to bother him. I've watched that collision a number of times. No fault - just two players going all out and one is finished for the year. It just so happened that Gunnar got the yips and his batting went south soon thereafter. Maybe a coincidence but I think we will see a rejuvenated Gunnar next year and all stops are off.
    • I’m not so sure the bolded part is true. I think a lot of that last bit can have to do with small skills: situational hitting/running, above average play in close games, generally things that can be boiled down to “luck.” I didn’t see this years team as having a major talent discrepancy from the 2023 version.
    • As great as Gunnar is can’t assume he matches last year. That said I like the odds of the team as a whole matching what we did.
    • The real improvement of this team will come from within.    The 3-5 players they bring in from outside the org will supplement the roster…maybe put it over the top but the real improvement will come from those already in the org.
    • Yeah. -Would love to keep Burnes but I seriously doubt it. -I have a lot of faith in Adley.  - Holliday has huge ceiling even if he isn’t ready to be elite.  - doesn’t always work this way but the better your closer is tends to help rest of pen
    • Nice OP. Thanks for the effort. Like the chart. Surprised it hasn't received much response. You sum up a lot of what I hope for as well. I'd add: I think a full - healty year of Westy will be even more valuable. I think Gunnar has even more in the tank. I want - hope that Holliday can develop into the lead off hitter and OBP table setter we need. And, I so want Cowser to cut down on strike outs and continue to develop as a professional hitter. I think he has the potential to cover for the loss of Santander while Big K develops on the right side. A lot to hope for but I believe these youngsters have a lot of potential yet to tap. And oh yes - I want Mayo to make Roy and all of us proud! Thanks again for the effort! I look at pitching as if we have a base. I agree with your points 1 and 2.
    • Postgame Pedro Martinez and Dusty Baker critiquing Clase tripling up on his weaker pitch before the Carpenter heroics. 78% cutters on the season for Clase - the key PA went cutter-cutter-cutter-slider-slider-slider.
