I’m thinking this is the main reason Elias traded for Eloy. If Eloy stays healthy (a big if) he can produce at the plate.

If we're going to spend $16.5 million 2025 dollars on a bad player like Jimenez, why couldn't we just spend that money on a good player instead?

Stowers was never going to replace Santander.   Jimenez is an injury prone DH who is getting 16M next year if they pick up his option.  I don’t believe they will.
