With the NL having such crazy congestion for the wild card race, it may be difficult for any NL team, not named the Rockies or Marlins, to sell.

TEAM GB
Atlanta Braves
+4.5
St. Louis Cardinals
+1
San Diego Padres
-
Arizona Diamondbacks
1.5
Washington Nationals
1.5
New York Mets
1.5
Cincinnati Reds
2.5
Pittsburgh Pirates
2.5
San Francisco Giants
3
Chicago Cubs
3

That’s why I suggested pieces for Pitt that can help right now. Their first base and OF production is putrid.

The Giants are much closer to a team that should be rebuilding than they are a team with serious designs on contention. They have a 200 million dollar payroll, are in 4th place in their division, and are 5 games under .500. And to top it off, they don't have a ton of talent in their system.

They should be sellers.

This is probably true, but that wild card though... :P

Mountcastle, Stowers and Urias for Bubba Chandler and Bednar

Nevermind - Chandler back from "minor forearm injury". He will be breaking soon.

And then what? They have been a mediocre team (counting this year) 3 years running.

IMO mired mediocrity is the worst of all positions to be in professional sports. Too good to be bad and too bad to really be good.

When you have a payroll that high with farm talent that sparse and a record like that with a recent track record of being in the middle. It's time to go in a different direction because what you are doing is not working.

But hey, maybe they commit one more year to trying to fight for a Wild Card against all odds? But at some point they are going to need to rebuild/retool.

I agreed with you, hence why I liked your post.  I was just trying to be funny in the follow up.

Anf if you go all the way back to 2017, they had the one outlier year in 2021. Other than that they have been mediocre to bad.
