I guess we should buy a time machine and draft starters 3 or 4 years ago.

Yep it’s either that or search for better pitching development program or specialist . Some teams, like Dodgers and Marlins seem proficient with pitching development

I believe it has more to do with what youth teams are doing, all year long, at a young age

I totally agree. I have a friend with an 11 year old son and he's grooming him to be a pitcher, getting college coaches to help with instructions, playing two or three leagues a year with hardly any stop. Even the live stats these kids have during the game and immediately after just makes me think nearly everyone involved is micromanaging their kids at a young age and ruining their arms. He's talking about splitters, sinkers, curves, and different kinds of fastball grips this 11 year old had.

It's out of control. I've keep my mouth shut, but I full expect that skinny kid's arm to fall off.

I often wonder what Tommy John thinks about hearing his name spoken so much over the years.

I had seriously considering naming a band I was in (full of hard core baseball fans) The Tommy Johns.

I was so close to getting them to agree to The Pine Tar Incident.

We compromised and called it .406

I prefer the "Belle Corked Bat" band.

Is there something about the Orioles training program that is putting more stress on elbow?  Focus on spin rate, etc.  3 TJ's in the past month requires the consideration.

Yes, they're asking pitchers to throw at 110% all the time, just like everyone else in the world from 11U on up.

Why are people writing off 2025? He is 2 months behind Means in 2022 and Means came back in September and this was after a setback. Obviously, a setback in Bradish's rehab would put him out, but there is a decent possibility he is back around the trade deadline and certainly September of next year.

MLB Trade Rumors is saying he got an internal brace. I believe the recovery time on that is usually closer to 12 months than 15, so it's possible he could pitch half the season next year.

I wouldn't write off 2025. Maybe the first half.

He had a "combo" procedure... UCL replacement and augmentation with an internal brace.

Bradish had his surgery — UCL reconstruction with internal brace augmentation — Monday with Dr. Keith Meister in Texas, Elias said. Meister, who also performed Means and Wells’ surgeries, has developed a hybrid procedure during which a pitcher receives Tommy John surgery and then has an internal brace added on to provide more support. However, Bradish’s recovery won’t differ from the typical 14-to-16 month timeline, which could have him return in the second half next year.

What if it is?

It is not as if everyone recovers fully from TJ surgery.

You shouldn't operate on someone if the professionals think it isn't needed.

Sorry but that is pretty naïve in the context of a starting MLB player. At the prices we are talking about, you play the numbers and the numbers say do the surgery in January. If Bradish was a plumber I would have a different opinion.

The numbers don't say that to the player, who does have final say.
