The question I always have about this type of hire: who are they replacing? And if they're not replacing anybody, what role does this help that we didn't have before?

My guess is she fills the position once held by John Angelos but only on the business side of things.  Jerry Dipoto was still handling baseball operations when they were both with the Mariners.

- I think that it’s a good sign that we poached from another club; I recognize she wanted to be East Coast, but it’s still positive when someone chooses your ballclub for a lateral move

- They didn’t layer Elias and Catie has experience in Seattle working under a similar org structure

- She is very qualified and relatively young; in my view represents a further professionalization of the club (owner taking less of a role in the day to day operations)

That'd actually be good news because it means that Rubenstein (and his PE buddies) aren't that involved.

Have we ever had this big a chunk of $$$ to spend on stadium enhancements before?

She recently resigned from the same role with the Seattle Mariners, citing her desire to be back on the East Coast and closer to family.  Her first day with the Orioles will be August 19, 2024.

Her 3 years with the Mariners resulted in the 2023 All-Star Game and the 2024 NHL Winter Classic.  She also has some time with the MLS Atlanta United front-office.

I see it as good to have someone focus on ballpark improvements and community affairs.

Maybe we can have an all star game and winter classic in the near future too!

I'm expecting the All-Star game soon.

I would have said as quickly as possible after the sale but now I think they will wait until the renovations are complete.

I heard from an OPACY staffer that he was told the 2029 ASG is slated for Camden Yards.  (A worker, not an executive.)

Looks like they are doing to Greg Bader what the O’s previously to Mike Flanagan.  Flanagan was the top baseball exec but his title was EVP of Baseball Ops, and then they brought in Andy McPhail as President of Baseball Ops over him, thereby usurping his authority as top man in the department.   Bader has held the title EVP of Business Ops for a couple of years, reporting directly to ownership, and now he’ll have a President of Business Ops over him.

It will be interesting to see if Elias is given the President of Bsseball Ops title at some point.

    • Looks like Kevin will be doing the Nerdcast of Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN2 for those that have missed his voice.
    • This is the Mayo I see when I watch games.  I used to suggest he would be Devers level with the glove at third.  But honestly he seems worse.
    • I think Mayo is the guy that gets traded as well.  Been thinking that since the season started.  Painful, but to get a star it has to be painful.
    • Hyde said postgame he wasn’t available
    • I have no problem with the Tigers saying they want the moon and the stars.  Its a negotiating position.  The  Tigers GM and Ownership have to know that no trade has ever happened for a pitcher that is as aggressive that they are asking for.  They don't have to trade Skubal so the O's have to motive the Tigers with what that offer could be. The O's offense is #1 in baseball in Homers, Slugging and Runs per game.    They are first in the AL in OPS.  The O's don't want to damage that.  They are 11th in Average and 15th OBP.  They want to improve that. The O's have the #1 Farm System to deal from. They need to keep: 1) Holliday because he will bring the high average and OBP the O's need In the future. 2) Basallo.  It's hard to find catchers that can hit and control the running game.  Him first teaming with Adley and a some point replacing Adley is a game changer. 3) Kjerstad is needed to replace Santander unless, unless, unless the O's are willing to extend him for 4/68m.   Which way will Elias and Rubinstein go with that? ------ Mayo with his incredible talent is someone that can head up a package.   Mayo is BA #25 prospect in 2024.  O's #3 prospect. (O's prospect by MLB.com) Bradfield BA #82 prospect in 2024; #4 O's prospect  and Norby BA #93 prospect in 2023,  #5 Os prospect with a 911 OPS at AAA  currently are two players the Tigers could pick between. McDermott #7 O's prospect; Povich O's #8 prospect:  and Johnson O's #9 prospect are three future starters that  Tigers could pick between. Elias could add one or two more prospects to this list. Looking at the Bedard package I think this package could compares well.
