B+.  Dominguez is a usable bullpen arm.  Elias sees something in him that can be fixed.  Hays was getting little playing time and was blocking Kjerstad from getting more PA.  Will be surprised if Poche makes it on the roster more than a couple of weeks.

This trade IMO is addition by subtraction . Hays is no longer starting RHB OF with us .  Hays has done great job with us when we were rebuilding.   The other good part of this trade is RHP for bullpen, which needs all the help they can get .
The OF Pache is a defensive wizard who has no bat . I look for him to be DFA after the deadline concludes .

I don't love it.  I don't really even like it.

I think Phillies probably won the trade.   They get Hays as their everyday 28 year old left fielder who is under their control through 2025.  He will probably do well for them until he gets hurt.

From what I can see the O's got an inconsistent reliever that has trouble with left-handed hitters.   In 2023 Dominguez saved two of 9 save opportunities so he probably does not help in 9th.   He has a 97 mph 4 seamer and a good slider but his sinker and changeup get hit pretty regularly. The O's pitching coaches are good at fixing pitchers and I think that is what has to happen here.

I think Hays was going to get traded in the off season anyway and I was not against that.  Right now I don't see the righthanded left fielder that replaces him. It's the return for a 28 year left fielder that concerns me.  It shows me how hard it is for Elias to acquire pitching.

Clearly the O's wanted to move Hayes for more than baseball reasons, so that is a success

The two players they got are not very good

Hays will easily post more WAR in his two months with Philly than the scrubs we got in return

Real good trade for Philly

Or you are just vastly overrating Hays

Love what Hays brought to this franchise during the dark years, but this was a good trade. Brought in a guy to the bullpen who has elite stuff (most of our current guys do not), and brought in a defensive/speed minded outfielder who can backup CF. Essentially a Jorge Mateo of the outfield. Maybe this opens up the ability to trade Mullins/Mounty before Tuesday which could move me from "like it" to "love it"
