The full quote doesn't at all sound like Hays was trying to be insulting, and the professional oddsmakers would tell you that Hays is correct in saying that the Phillies have a better chance of winning the World Series.

The full quote doesn’t seem that bad. I may have said something more like:

”I enjoyed my time in Baltimore and appreciate the opportunity that they gave me, however I am really excited to be in Philly now. This is a really great team and I feel we have a great shot at winning the World Series this year. I am going to go out there everyday and help contribute to getting another ring for Philadelphia. “

I expect players to say nice things about their new teams, and he didn't say anything bad about the Orioles. He thinks the Phillies are a better team? He's arguably right. This is nothing.
