That’s not good, but it’s also a little disingenuous to use “backups” as a pejorative when it comes to catchers. Plenty of back ups catchers are better defenders than the starter.

And on Soto's walk of Martinez here's two of the pitches edging the strike zone called balls while Orioles hitters have to deal with an extra wide strike zone. That said Soto was bad, but the Orioles are getting completely screwed by the home plate umpire tonight.
