Assuming Burnes goes FA, is the below what we have returning and control of over the next two years out of folks that have made starts this year?  We'll need some trades or FAs for sure.

2025- Rodriguez, Efflin, Kremer, Rogers, Irvin, Povich, McDermott

2026- Rodriguez, Kremer, Means, Wells, Rogers, Irvin, Povich, McDermott

I'm not really certain that Elias wants to give out big contracts.  I would not be at all surprised if Rubenstein actually DOES want to spend money but Elias refrains from doing so.   I think Eli

Means will be a free agent.  They may sign him to a friendly deal but right now that would be up to the Orioles to offer him that.

Definitely need to get at least 1 and preferably 2 middle of rotation starters or better for next year.  Rogers + Irvin + Povich +McDermott does not fill 1 spot combined as we have seen.  Plus injuries can and do happen and then you-re plugging in Povich or McDermott anyway.  Just don't want them as plan A.

Recent estimates are 80% of pitchers who get TJ return to their prior level of performance.

Everyone and every case is different, also depends who does the surgery, I'd like to see The Orioles start working with Dr. Neal ElAttrache:

I'm guessing that we would have to at least include one of the pitchers in the OP. And the pitcher acquired won't be at the level of a Burnes though right? Unless they are in their final year of the contract?

Makes sense, but his trade value is probably far less than it was and what we may think it is. I think he is probably more valuable to the Orioles as a player vs as a trade piece now vs before because his value drop, but we will obviously need to make a move to a pitcher who moves the needle and he is one of our few remaining top 100 pieces to get that done. If this were to happen does this mean you are now in favor or re-signing Santander, or where does that lead your 2025 outfield?

I would assume Mountcastle and Mullins will be shopped hard this offseason for pitching as well.

Who would you rather have as your lefty DH for 2025 and beyond: Kjerstad or O'Hearn?

You definitely prioritize the rotation over the LDH hitter, but I would be disappointed to trade Kjerstad for a 4th or 5th rotation arm.

we have no control over Means, but we do have control over Bradish....

      OPS is at .742 in Bowie.  I saw mlb pipeline just listed the guy that was drafted directly behind him at #100.  With another 5-7 spots being available due to propsect graduation on top 100 lists, I bet he makes a couple of offseason lists.

      This is why I don’t think the full effect of the 2015 Freddie Gray riots was felt until 2016, the first time season ticket holders had a chance to non-renew.  That’s why 2016 had worse attendance than 2015 despite the team having a playoff race that went to the final day.

      I definitely think we all have to recalibrate the way we view prospects.  Speaking for myself here, but I know it's been easy to be spoiled where we just have a slew of not just top 100 prospects, but top 1-25.   Obviously, we traded away Baumeister, Chace, and Johnson, but those were three good pitching prospects we had.  Add in Povich, and McDermott, that are overlooked at times.  A guy like Morfe isn't even on this list.  Plus, Reilly.   The system isn't as bare as we think.  Bradish and Grayson are going to be our TOR SP types the next 4 years.  We just need to fill out the rest of the rotation and hopefully hit on a "mid rotation" type arm.  Even if just for one season like peak Suarez, or peak Kremer.

      It is generally good for business some of the former Orioles are playing well. Sean Casey was talking about Norby this morning and remembering being stuck behind Thome in Cleveland and glad to get to Cincinnati. If SIGBOT thought Norby would be first string ever on its depth chart, I believe it would have treated him differently.    Obviously the Westburg injury timing was atrocious, making today seem worse. We'll see if Norby outplays any of Westburg/Gunnar/Holliday next year, or the seasons to come.   Big picture I'm glad the guy is getting a shot.     I'd mentioned Mayo establishment as an opportunity cost of hoarding players, and I suppose that idea fits for Norby too.

      My current confusion is that I thought Mayo would be in that first category, but it has been the second. I guess it shows what they think of his defense, which I get, but… the Mountcastle and Urias injuries should have been enough to bump Mayo to everyday status. Instead we are giving Eloy all this time, even though Mayo seems like a higher upside play.
