Who starts the first playoff game?

This is such a contrarian exercise undermining Corbin Burnes total body of work. It’s easily Corbin Burnes. Also the only one of our guys who has solid post-season numbers on his resume. He’s been in a rut lately, but the velocity and spin rates are still there. He’ll be fine, and he’s starting game 1 with Eflin behind him for game 2.

Exactly.  This thread is clickbait for the negative reactionary posters.  Yes, Burnes has been in a slump lately but unless he gets injured or totally implodes over the next month, Burnes is still starting game 1.  Game 1 starter is one of the few times I really buy into the importance of verteranosity...

easily Corbin Burnes?  Wow.  Based on how good he was the last couple of seasons I guess?  If based on who is pitching well, he might not be in the conversation at all.  It's funny to me that people go back to other seasons or even this season to make decisions....and getting smoked for not one game, not two games, not three games, not four games in a row but or over a month.  At what point does that start to matter?

Didn’t know Clayton Kershaw had a membership here.

Burnes in 2021: Best pitcher in baseball

Burnes in 2022: Top 10 pitcher in baseball

Burnes in 2023: Top 15 pitcher in baseball

Burnes through 08/15/2024: Top 10 pitcher in baseball

3 weeks later…

”Think he’s probably long relief, mop-up duty for us in the playoffs at this point.”

Sounds like some of you want Burnes off the playoff roster.

No one has said this.
