Maybe, just maybe, theres a ray of hope

Such a relief to see the team score 7 runs.   Still only 1 for 5 with RISP, but I’ll take the homers and say thank you very much.  The fact that both Westburg and Urias have hit well the last two days in Norfolk gives me hope that they can not only play, but contribute, in the postseason.  So yes, there’s a little hope.  Now we need Mounty to snap off a few hits this weekend.

Breath of fresh air. But they have done this before where they try to breakout of it and fall again

I thought the Santander grand slam game vs Houston was the start of a 20-3 run or something.
Seeing DC and Webb close out the game, and looking forward to some Bandaged Birds returning soon hopefully means this will be different.

Baseball is never linear.  As tough as the last few weeks have been for the offense we knew they were too talented to have that last forever.

The postseason is often won by the team that gets hot at the right time.  It’s too early to declare the drought over, but there is a chance that timing is on our side.

Regardless of how down I've been about their recent play, there's always been some hope. Getting some guys back in time for the post season will definitely help.

The way this team has been built requires a group effort. I mean,  Gunnar is a huge star, but the lineup when healthy can be competitive top to bottom. I'm not knocking NY here, but if you can eliminate Judge(almost impossible), you stand a chance vs them. I'm not implying that they will go on a deep run because we've seen how bad it can be, but simply saying that getting healthy and having a shot is the best we as fans could have hoped for with the way this season has gone.

This team took the joy out of watching baseball for me.  One game isn’t going to fix that.

Short of going 9-0 over the last 9 games, there isn’t much that will give me any hope for a playoff push.

One game does not erase 2 months of ineptitude.

    • I'm kind of rooting for not McCann, nothing about the individual player but I think the Sarasota backup catcher's prominence is the main leading indicator we'll get this winter of the 2025 Samuel Basallo strategy. I hope after living through 2 Octobers of Grayson Rodriguez and Jordan Westburg and Heston Kjerstad and Jackson Holliday and Coby Mayo arguably being under seasoned for their first pennant races that Basallo can have the Adley timeline instead of the 44 active roster days. In 2026 EBJ can put up a very gaudy SB number coming off his 44 active roster days that should play well for that year's RoY competition key to sustaining a large supply of Griff O'Ferrall's for the pipeline.
    • In the next 8 games and in the playoff who do you trust more at SS?  Holliday or Liv Soto?
    • Wells now at 1-for-18 and 6-for-40 last 7 and last 14 days - the rookie wall comes for many.    Next week I think still means something for the competition. It is kind of a big deal tactically if Wells, still mostly hitting cleanup, is in a bad patch or tuckered out, and opponents can tread very carefully around the big guys. I mean, Juan Soto's OBP isn't even .500, so you get him out a little over half the time, walk the other one, and then your pitchers and defense are playing against the other 7/9ths of the lineup. Would I walk Aaron Judge 2 outs, nobody on, in the 1st inning with Austin Wells on deck?    That would really give the voting sportswriters some narratives to zoom in on.     Maybe I don't want to reveal if that is my strategy this month though.
    • I would bring McCann back on a one year deal
    • It is powerfully convenient to say Ryan, but in the next couple few weeks we'll get our last view of O'Hearn v. Mountcastle, which the Cowser-like PA portion necessary for Coby Mayo's RoY candidacy needs solved. Mountcastle's right handedness and willing to put on a Powerpuff suit I think gives him the edge heading down the final stretch.    I believe Mountcastle is probably also a better 1B partner for Mayo as they have some kind of Lee May-Eddie Murray job share early next season. The 2025 lineup transitions are I think limited to Basallo for the backup catcher (and then he'll squeeze the 1B/DH duo), and if Mullins can sustain himself as a superior option to Fabian/EBJ for another October. This time next year I'm hopeful the injury gods are kind and Adley, Basallo, Mountcastle, Holliday, Gunnar, Westburg, Cowser, Mullins, EBJ, Kjerstad and Basallo are 11 individuals monopolizing all of the Orioles plate appearances at least four more Octobers.    I believe Mountcastle is nearer to the "Elias Generation" group of players heart, so he'll get an edge on Hays and O'Hearn when push really comes to shove as the #RisingTide starts to crest. Will O'Hearn's option give value to rate another Gregory Soto type decent reliever in trade?
