Its a yearly dollar amount in bookkeeping, not a lump sum.  Last I checked, they didn't pay guys in lump sums.  Keep that $8mil off your books yearly for a DH and it becomes a yearly savings too.

With his ability to play some RF, and with losing Santa, the $8 million is a fair price.  Even if we find better, we can still shop that value.
