This Year Has Turned Into A Disaster.

It's not over yet, but my worst fear was when both the O's and the Astros got eliminated. IMO, they were the only two teams that could have beaten them. Their losses created a clear path for Yankees to the WS. Say what you want, but the Yankees don't lose to teams like KC when it matters most. The only team that I'm confident that will beat them is the Dodgers. The Mets are a good story, but I think there's still that "big brother/little brother relationship with them.

Back to the O's. Not only that, but our farm system isn't as good as it's been over the last couple of years. There's massive question marks about our young talent. Will they ever reach their potential/hype? Who's going to replace Burnes, assuming we don't re-sign him? Who's going to replace Santander's offense? We can also expect the AL East to be overall better next year.

I know we had a better overall team than the Yankees, despite all of the injuries. It's very frustrating watching THIS Yankees team, that's not elite at all, on the cusp of yet another WS when we were setup a lot better than they were over the last couple of years.

Don't watch.

Are you old enough to remember !976, 77, and 78? you must have been quite The KC fan. Of course you got paid in 1980. Rooting for other teams to lose BS, even its the Skanks.

I'll root for whoever I want to lose, thank you. But since you brought it up. Who doesn't root for the Yankees to lose?

I have two favorite teams.   The Os and whoever is playing the Yankees.   If that's wrong,  then I don't want to be right.

In the grand scheme of things, yes.  As it pertains to baseball...eh.

I think even as it pertains to baseball. We're calling back to back playoff appearances a disaster? I know it felt like one in the moment, but dang.

And yeah the Yankees suck but they do have some really good players. I hope they get swept by the Dodgers for sure.

    • I think it's an easy call to keep all 3 right now.  Kremer is in the rotation somewhere, and both Povich and Rogers will have to fight for the 5th spot, or they will come up throughout the year.  The Orioles don't have a lot of LH SP depth, so I think they will want to keep both Povich and Rogers. That said, if the O's go out and sign 2 SP as rotation upgrades, Kremer is a good trade candidate.
    • 2 of the best teams in the league at big plays and 2 of the worst offenses at allowing big plays. Baker is cooking but is also turning it over a lot. They have a sneaky good run game and lots of guys who can hurt you in the pass game.    Not the best matchup for the Ravens but I think they find a way to win.
    • The Orioles are very likely to lose Burnes and certainly need to add a starter this offseason. The Orioles, whether fans want to acknowledge it or not, value Rogers and feel they can get something out of him. They also clearly value Kremer, as he has 90 starts the last 4 seasons and has basically pitched to the level of a #3 starter the last 3 seasons combined. Povich got 16 starts in 2024.  He ended the year very strong. The question for me is, do you keep all of these guys. I know we also have McDermott but I think his injury last year buys time for him to start more in the minors.  And we are unclear about Suarez. So, let’s just keep this discussion to the 3 I mentioned. Povich and Rogers can be in the minors and we can treat them as depth but do the Orioles do that? They clearly like Rogers and while Povich starting 16 was more out of necessity, he did show well at times. We know Eflin and GRod are in the rotation, assuming health. We know they need to add one guy but if you want to add 2, do you keep all of these guys or do you look to trade one of them? There are a lot of ways I would be happy with the Os going this offseason w/r/t pitching and trading (likely) Povich or Kremer is something that could come into play.    Would you rather look for upgrades on these guys and trade someone or just keep everyone because you need/want that depth? And would you be ok just adding one starter and having either Povich or Rogers in the rotation?
    • Kremer never had those kind of control issues and was two years younger when he arrived in the big leagues.  McDermott is 26 years old coming off a year in which he walked 5 per nine innings in the minors.  Unless he is going to magically improve his command dramatically in 2025, it's time to try him as a reliever.
    • Well then a lot of people aren't sensible then.  But I'm sure that's the point you were trying to make
