Roberts still did the right thing. It just didn't work out.

He should have stopped a few steps down the line when he saw where the ball was hit. It was less his fault then the call to go on contact with the infield in.

And Markakis gets a single that would have driven in a run. God almighty we find so many ways to lose and so few to win. Huff up now, not expecting anything here.

Reimold on third, Mora up. 3-2 pitch, it's up and in and Mora tries to lean back out of the way. Ball hits the knob of the bat, and squirts up the first base line. Reimold breaks, and scores, as Mora is put out at first.

Looked ugly on a K.

Thanks. Boy did we just blow that half inning: three runners and...no runs?!

Yeah really.

The really funny thing about the Mora ball hitting the knob of the bat thing was that they put Mora out while he stood about 20 feet to the left of the plate, where his momentum of trying to get out of the way carried him.

If the ball had been hit to one of the right side infielders he'd have had a chance to get back to third, but with it going to the shortstop even though you're screwed either way your chances are a little better of avoiding the tag having the catcher drop the ball at home than they are of getting back to third safely. Roberts played it the way he was supposed to. The mistake - one they make all the freaking time - is on the coaching staff. I know they have a tough time getting clutch hits, but they have an even harder time overcoming all the runners they get thrown out at the plate! :angryfire:
