The Orioles today announced that they have signed RHP Roberto Novoa and RHP Cory Doyne to Minor League contracts for 2008 after both players were non-tendered on Wednesday night.

Novoa will be invited to Major League Spring Training after spending 2007 in the Cubs organization. He did not pitch in 2007 but is 7-7 with a 4.51 ERA (141.2IP, 71ER) in 131 Major League appearances.

Doyne appeared in 5 games for the Orioles, pitching to a 14.73 ERA (3.2IP, 6ER). He went 0-1 with a 2.23 ERA in 42 games for Triple-A Norfolk and was 3rd in the International League with 29 saves, setting a franchise record despite not pitching after July 23 due to a right shoulder injury. Doyne was also named to the IL All-Star Team.

Nice to have them back in the fold.

Plus the Rob Bell signing, mentioned in the above post.

I hope to start consolidating all of this into a post I made last offseason.

Who is this Mark Davis we signed? Anyone have any information at all? I have searched both BaseballAmerica.com free agents, Minorleaguebaseball.com player search and the Baseball Cube and can't find a catcher named Mark Davis. Does he go by another name?

See this very amusing post (to me, anyway) for the answer(s) and kinda more questions about this guy's name :D
