It has become pretty obvious the number 1 pick is going to the O's, therefore, why not go ahead and look ahead to see if there may be what we are looking for.

Here is a semi-recent breakdown the who may or may not be:

Rendon out of Rice is getting a lot of hype because of his power, but he still remains limited in plate discipline and gets punched out a good bit. We all know that will not work in the major, take a quick look at Brandon Wood:

That said, how about someone who is still a little under the radar with lights out stuff who has been a lifelong O's fan:

Shame he will not be sitting there in 11.5 months. I think he should be hurling for Mississippi for the next two years:

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have to be a pitch two years of college if you opt to go.

He went in the 39th round, but will probably go to college instead, no?

Dylan Bundy, RHP, Owasso HS, OK: The 6-foot-1 righty can run his fastball up into the mid-90s with plenty of life. He complements it with a curve and slider, and even shows a changeup which will only get better.

Related to Bobby?

Only reason I ask is Oklahoma.

I'm confused, within the article you linked to it says Rendon has great discipline.

This is what I am talking about:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5256205

In the same game that he is picture perfect he is whiffing...

Also:

The guy clearly has plenty of praise.

 What on earth do either of those links have to do with Rendon's plate discipline? In one game he struck out *looking* before hitting three homers. Someone also created a college stat logarithm and named it after him. And...?

Weird thread.

Yes its his brother. I remember when we drafted Bobby, people were already talking about Dylan. I think he dominated as a frosh on varsity.

For me its Rendon all the way. I think it was Callis who said he would take Rendon over Harper. He is compared to Longoria with a more advanced bat. I have never seen anything about Rendon's plate discipline. Machado at SS, Rendon at 3B, Hoes/Narron at 2B and maybe Bell/Snyder at 1B sounds pretty darn good to me.

Best part of the article

"I said 'You want to see Hank Aaron's wrists? Well, there they are,'" Graham said, who watched Aaron take batting practice numerous times during Graham's 11 professional seasons with the Phillies and Mets. "He's really got what we used to call—years ago—flick. He's got great wrist action. He compares very favorably to (North Carolina All-American) Dustin Ackley in wrist action."

Graham was quick to point out that Rendon is more than a power hitter, comparing the third baseman to Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt.

"It's a power package at a power position with a good arm and the kind of movement that you want at that position," Graham said.

Rendon was second in the NCAA in walks this year, How exactly is that poor plate discipline? Scouts have raved about how advanced his eye is and that's part of why he's virtually a lock to be the number 1 pick barring injury or a terrible upcoming season. Callis was even quoted as saying he would've taken Rendon over Harper this year based on the fact that he's very polished and will move quickly through the minors.

Yes, younger brother. Just transferred to Owasso this year (was at Sperry, like his big bro, prior to their coach retiring at the end of last year). Big flag/watch for the summer, as he through over 220 pitches in a 36 hour span during the playoffs this year. Good arm speed and a conditioning freak. Assumed everyone had seen this because of the "Bundy" connection, but maybe not?

I was shocked that BAL didn't take a late flier on Wahl...

As was I. The kid gushed about the O's in the Washington post. I would think we had a much better shot then any other team. Whole family are big big O's fans. He seemed like a perfect fit. I was really looking for us to take a shot on someone like him late. I think we really missed the boat on him. He would have been a fantastic pick. I actually threw my mouse when the Indians picked him late. I have a feeling he will have a similar career as Pomeranz down at Ole Miss. Machado, Paxton, Cole, Hahn, and Wahl late would have been amazing.

Yeah, I just don't get it. I spoke with an evaluator about Wahl. My (overboard?) love for the kid is apparent. I was told that he probably didn't yet have enough "now" stuff to get the bonus to keep him from college. I asked if he agreed that Wahl could develop into a top round talent and the evaluator absolutely agreed, stating that Wahl has everything you'd look for when trying to project a breakout guy at the collegiate level, and that he wouldn't be surprised if he was a top selection in 2013.

I'm at peace with the idea that Wahl wasn't going to sign. But why not draft him now, continue to build the relationship, and if he has a change of heart over the summer it's with you. If not, you've had that summer to build the relationship when your area guy starts following-up with him at Ole Miss.

    • Now overall I notice 29 K's in 17 innings. That ratio of 1.7 is top of the line for a starter!
    • Urias looks pretty cooked too though, and he's not providing the kind of defensive flexibility that Mateo is, and he doesn't have very good splits for platooning.  At least for 2023 and 2024 Mateo has had good platoon splits.
    • SSS but Holliday was playing incredible defense after like the first game or two when he seemed to have some jitters.  He had +3 OAA in a very short span.  Mateo has looked a little awkward at 2nd to be honest, and he's not the best at making the double play turn.
    • Hoping for a speedy recovery. That all happened fast. Not my initial impression reading the write up.
    • McCann looks cooked but he's in his last year and our options at backup C aren't great unless we're willing to trade for one.  But I'm not giving up a lot for a backup C.   I'd like to find a replacement for Urias.  He didn't look great last year and he's being thrust into a role that he's not really cut out for right now.  I don't think he's getting the 2022 magic back.  Maybe Westburg can go to 3rd full time and one of our 5 AAA 2nd basemen can work in with Mateo at 2nd.
    • I quoted myself, because I wanted to share something with you all.  I have memory issues.  Nothing full blown or anything, but I don't recall things nearly as well as I once did.  I mention this because it occurred to me that I posted a very similar thing about McCann last year, and he performed notably better in the 2nd half.  At least I believe so.   It's not that I feel I'm exactly wrong about McCann, but rather that he showed himself to be better just last season and could do so again.  I hope so. Memory issues are nothing to be ashamed of, though I'd be pretending if it didn't bother me.  I've been dealing with this for maybe five years or so, though it gets worse every year.  At 59, that's younger than most that have such issues.   I'm sure in a forum as populated as this one, there could be others going through what I am.  It is what it is... it's life, and I hope you're all doing your best with it.
    • Estrada and Tejada both continued their recent surges today.  Estrada was 2 for 4 with a double, while Tejada was 3 for 3  with a homer.  Tejada has his OPS up to .737, not bad for a league where .654 is average.  Estrada is at .628 and climbing.
