That sweeper to Judge didn't look that bad to my eye, not perfect height but pretty close to the edge. But the numbers on his sweeper have been horrible: It's not a big sample size and having Judge be at least one of those PAs isn't going to help. But maybe he needs to change his pitch usage a bit. The splitter hasn't been hit hard by righties, and it has a lot more vertical drop, though it could have the same issue Cano has with his sinker/changeup combination where they mostly move in the same direction. That said, Cano got away with it for a little while early on, and maybe Bowman could too in the short term. -
+2 This is what I would do - at least for the playoffs. Mountcastle has a career 104 wRC+ against RHP and a 98 wRC+ this year. Both O’Hearn and Kjerstad project to be significantly better vs RHP. Let Mounty mash lefties. I might give Mounty some more at bats over the last 4 games as part of his “rehab”, though. -
You're right. It seemed like they didn't strike out much in our 6 games with them. I even went and added the K's for each team during this 6 games: O's struck out 50 times, Los Tigres 55 times. -

Overall Torres was favorable to pitchers, yet Eflin walked a career high 5 batters. Did Eflin just not get any of the generous strike calls? -
We've had a lot of good news for injuries lately. Disappointed he won't even be bullpen ready for postseason, but hopefully he's ready to go next year. -
Why does everybody want to jump and label a kid so fast? What is this, his 2nd major-league season? Yes, certainly they shouldn't go into next year thinking he's a lock for 30+ starts and 180-200 innings but we can't say he's already reached his peak either. -

And their defense is very good. To put things in perspective, the Tigers collective dWAR is +0.5. The Orioles is -2.8. Minnesota -4.1, Yankees -0.3, Houston -0.1, Seattle +2.0, Royals at +2.5. The Royals really standout as most of that value is driven by Fermin (catcher) and Witt. But I think my point is that the Tigers have excellent pitching (starting pitching and bullpen) as well as excellent defense. And they're not putrid with the bats. I would say the one saving grace about the Tigers is they don't run much.
