Is it ok to give up on Miguel Gonzalez?

I could see giving up on him if we had some depth in starting pitching, or some minor league starters pushing for promotion, or some money to spend on free agents who are established starters or real prospects.

Under the circumstances, probably not a great idea.

I agree. We have no depth to begin with and Miguel is still cheap.

Should the fans? Almost certainly.

Should the Orioles? Uh, we're not exactly overflowing with starting pitching options...even ones that are barely above replacement level.

Look for a replacement in the off season; if you can't find one and the team needs a pitcher, give Miguel until late May, early June and reassess.

He'll be better next year. He was fine in the first half, but never seemed healthy after that. Rest up and he'll be OK.

If you give up on Miguel then you have to give up on Tillman. With their arb numbers next year is put up or get non tendered for both of them next offseason. Personally I like Gonzo better.

The Orioles do not have enough pitching to give up on anyone. They may well, make moves in the off season that renders keeping him a mute point. But personally, I think he looks injured and in need of rest. He will be cheap enough to roll the dice on, but the Orioles still need more starting pitching. Or at least better starting pitching.

He's been consistent for 3 years. He struggled this season, I expect trying to pitch through an injury. With our lack of pitching depth it would be silly to give up on him. Worst case move him to the pen.
