Red Sox also bidding on Santana

It looks like the BoSox are dangling Lester, Crisp, minor-leaguer Jed Lowrie, and another prospect yet to be named.

The MLB.com story is here:

I especially liked this part:

Beckett-Santana 1-2 punch -- backed by Daisuke Matsuzaka, Curt Schilling and Tim Wakefield -- could be a dominant rotation.

Don't go out on a limb there fella.

The Sox can offer a better package than the NYY, IMO.

Early reports have Ellsbury and Bucholtz off-limits, but it's difficult to believe at least one of them won't be in a final deal - especially if the NYY are offering Hughes. I don't think the NYY can do much better than Lester/Ellsbury/Lowrie.

The 4th guy the red sox are offering is either Michael Bowden or Justin Masterson, both highly touted pitching prospects. I think the twins asked early on for Buchholz and Lester, but the sox will only part with 1. Ellsbury is off limits much like the Yanks feel about Joba Chamberlain. I think the best offer the sox and yanks each could put forth is

Sox: Crisp, Lester, Bowden, Lowrie

Yankees: Hughes, Cabrera, Jose Tabata, Ian Kennedy.
