I really don't think you can jump on Davis there. The best players GIDP at times. Sometimes when a pitcher has good stuff, you can't get it into the air try as you might. Probably should have taken another pitch, but hey.

Ripken I think GIDPed into the most DPs ever. It's just like some of the best pitchers giving up a lot of home runs.

They said before the broadcast that his average FB velo was 95. It doesn't look much lower than that today.

They said his average for the entire year was 95.5, so you are seeing plenty of 97-99 to make up for the 93's
