Square up and catch it with 2 hands, stop trying to act cool out there.
It is that hot dog attitude that gets him in trouble. Paul Blair, he ain't.

It really does seem like that. It's amazing how he can seem so humble and yet so incredibly arrogant with his fielding at the same time. I love how he gets around in the community and hung out at Ravens game with fans- but man- stop believing the hype. I truly can't believe this **** just happened again after what happened vs Minnesota.

I agree it was a terrible play but you shouldn't call him a 'lazy pile of s***'. If there is one thing Jonesy is, 'lazy' isn't it. Please get off your key board and stop calling professional athletes 'lazy piles of s***'. Just foolish.

He lazily ran back, didnt square himself up, and tried to catch it with 1 hand while blowing a bubble.

It was lazy hot dog BS. No other way to describe it.

Pos was too strong and I apologize for that though.

Oh, are we all going to jump on Jones for blowing bubbles again? I love the three times a year we do this. :rolleyestf:

Maybe he should not blow bubbles when he makes key errors then? He can say he doesn't know he does it, but it looks ridiculous. Not sure I've ever seen an outfielder drop more balls that hit their gloves than Adam Jones. This one was huge. I'm sure Buck will make excuses for him during the post game show though.

Yeah it's dumb. It has nothing to do with it. To me it looked like he took his last few steps and approach to the ball for granted. You can just never do that. I don't care how long you play in MLB, watch it into your damn glove every single time.

I think there's something to it now. I want him to stop chewing gum, I think there's a case to be made for blowing a bubble distracting his reflexes and vision slightly enough to cause him to make errors like that.
Do you want MJ to quit sticking out his tongue when he throws down totally sick jams? Seriously the bubbles aren't the issue. The blame is on him but it doesn't have anything to do with bubble gum. Tired of seeing people flip their crap over this.

I would say yeah. But I guess this just his style. We have to take the good with the bad. The bad being stupid tweets. The good being a nice start.

Do the bubbles help him make all of his other catches? Because he does it regardless. And if the bubbles cause him to mess up, then they must cause him to not screw up as well.

    • In a nonsave situation, Mike Baumann was tagged with an unearned run Sunday in 26-pitch ninth inning to seal Seattle's 5-1 win in a three-game sweep of the Angels. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/angels-vs-mariners/2024/06/02/745252/final
    • So would Kjerstad, Norby or Mayo man center?
    • Are we really sure that Vieira would be claimed.  I remember the O's have hung on to guys for dear life and then when they are DFA'ed, no one wants them.
    • Maybe he’s throwing shade at somebody who hijacks every game thread.
    • And hader, with the second biggest contract in reliever history, is 19th in average annual value just in current contracts (Diaz is 17th). There are 4 relief pitchers in the top 50 pitchers in annual salary (and that’s if you go by spotrac calling Kyle Hendricks a reliever, which he hasn’t been). Which tells you how mlb values starters vs relievers. If you have a chance to get even a  mid rotation starter, chances are it’s more valuable than very good high leverage relievers. They pitch a ton more innings that impacts the team more.  Relievers are volatile, and don’t exactly have longer shelf lives despite the lower inning workload.    if you get a pitcher with good enough stuff that can be a starter, you can always fall back on them being relievers if they don’t make it as starters. Taking someone with no starter potential limits their upside. That’s not what I want with an early pick. I’ll take all the sharkey types in later rounds, but if I get Brecht, I want him in the minors trying to be a starter as long as they think he can be one.
    • All right I'll pull that back, he does only have a decent shot at his best year. the rest of the season has not happened yet, hell tomorrow could be his last game. I dont like sewing together partial seasons either. Last year half season started with July and August being a scorch fest followed by a cold September which featured shoulder problems and an IL stint. he does have one constant though, the defense is turning Elite. Yes bad AB today, but the more I look at him the more I see what his supporters see. I'm starting to come around to him.
    • Hey everyone! I’m so sorry that I’m late in getting the results accumulated and a winner announced. I haven’t had time to login to the Hangout in probably 10 days or so due to life and work.  I’ll tally up the entries and post the winner this week, hopefully within the next day or two. Thanks for all the interest!
