He pitched a heck of a game. For a 4 ERA guy. Someone made him throw some pitches outside the zone and something other than straight fastballs. His velocity was real nice tonight.

I'm not even a Markakis fan, but your arguments are terrible. For one thing, hitting .300 isn't something that most players do. AJ has never hit .300. Chris Davis has never hit .300. Hardy's never hit .300. In fact, the Orioles are only starting two players who've hit .300 in the majors: Markakis and Cruz (Cruz did it twice, but in just 31 games in 2008 and 108 games in 2010).

And those years that Nick failed to hit .300 since 2008? He hit .293, .297, .284, .298, and .271. And he was worth between 1.5 and 2.4 fWAR in each of those years. He's not terrible, he's just overpaid.

Also, in case the point hasn't gotten through, you're wrong about his clutch stats. For his career, he's hit .271 with an .806 OPS with two outs and RISP (469 ABs), .304 with an .823 OPS in "late and close" situations (710 ABs), and .304 with an .803 OPS in tie games (1,431 ABs).

To sum up: you're basically wrong on every point you raise.

I'm done arguing with these folks that will insist that the sky is purple with pink polka dots, and not blue, until they run out of breath. I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, but if your opinion is easily disprovable drivel with no basis in reality, I'm just assuming that you're intentionally messing with me and I won't continue to waste my time.
