A 2-run home run in the 1st inning, followed by 3 goose-eggs.

82 pitches in only 4 innings.

Not a very good strikes-to-balls ratio (48 Strikes, 34 Balls.)

The strikeouts are nice but 82 pitches in 4 innings is not.

If the FO is willing to let him develop as a starter then he needs considerably more baking time.

He'd need less time to step up and give us 2 innings 2-3 times a week where there's a good chance he'd be quite valuable.

Keep him in the rotation at Norfolk during the summer. Bring him up to the bullpen in September.

I believe Gausman can compete at a MLB level right now. He needs to vary his pitches and speeds, but he has great stuff, a terrific arm and he should step up. I am really rooting for him. I really want him to succeed. If he goes Saturday, they will have TJ right behind him as a safety net. I think if he could give us 4-5 innings thats all you can ask for right now. Make no mistake he IS the future.

Welp, you had me until you mentioned that. Hearing McFarland is the potential long man OR other possible option to start Saturday does nothing more than make me long for Josh Stinson.

He's not ready and it's a stupid move to bring him up again. He should be developing in AAA instead of being yo-yo'd around. The Orioles could spot start a number of guys and Santana is close to being ready. There's no need to bring Gausman up.

You really believe DD is just toying with Gausman a possible TOR of the future club for many years?

Close isn't ready.

DD has shown that this team is invested in winning this season, I think he will make the best move he thinks will work.
