Take it with a grain of salt. But I just don't think this is something a guy who is a team leader should be doing constantly.

Agree to disagree. It just seems trivial to complain about a pie to the face after a game. There are other things to complain about. Like how the pitching and hitting can't get it together at the same.

It's 25 guys who are with each other day in and day out. Who knows what goes on in the clubhouse. Maybe there is a competition or something to see how many times a person can get pied by the end of the year.

I just think there are other things to complain about. Not a pie to the face.

I think you 're on to something here. The pie business is more a clubhouse ritual than it is for the fans. The whole idea of getting interviewed on TV is something the players see as a joke. I am sure if they had their druthers none of them would want t do it. So the added indignity of getting pied is funny to them. And in a weird way a badge of honor.

I just think it is overdone. Walk offs and the like are fine. But on normal wins like today it's kind of getting pass

I have never seen Markakis pied as he is so serious I could see him getting pissed big time. Not sure if Wieters has been pied either. Also have not seen Nelson Cruz pied possibly because he's so damned good they could be doing it several games per week!

There are a couple of vets (Markakis, Hardy) who requested not to get pied. That's why.

And I thought Nelson was pied already?

It's an event for the home crowd as much as it is for the players, hence why they only ever do it at home. It's also good, I think, to recognize the contributions of role and bench players, because lot of times they're the one's that get it absent a walk off or a really clutch hit. I can see some people getting tired of it, but I'm not. And if there's a reason to do it, IE because they won, then I say keep the pies coming.

    • And he was flashing some wheels too, stretching into a 2B and also cutting off balls in the field, making competitive throws trying to get runners.
    • Agreed they were one reliever short I thought even with Baumann(even though I don’t trust him much), now with Viera they are 2 guys short.  That was a downgrade though they must think they can get him fixed enough to have him help out later on.  Perez has pitched well so that is a big help but still another guy is needed for times like today.  I do think they might add Lopez if they can claim him on waivers who is better option then Viera imo.
    • I have no problem going reliever at #22 if he profiles as a dominant reliever.  Sounds like Massey can be gotten later but I’d have no problem going for Brody Brecht with one of those first two picks.  Again, I prefer Gillen or Lindsey at #22.  Be great if we could get one at #22 and the other at #32.        Who do you consider high upside that might be there at #32?
    • Looking for bright spots from today’s game, Hays hit three balls on the screws, 102, 104 and 106, two of which went for hits.  His BA is creeping towards the Mendoza line, now at .190. He’s hitting .294 since coming off the IL.
    • At this point, after seeing this game and about 3 other games lost this year, I have come around to the fact that the O's are going to have to trade for a shut down 7th and 8th inning guy.   I think that is all they need. But for now they are that ONE guy short of having a BP that can win a WS this year.
    • That’s absolutely part of the recipe.
    • If Basallo goes off in the second half we have an outside shot for 4 #1 prospects 4 years in a row.  I’d say that’s elite.  The Latin players he signed in his first year are now 19 & 20 and just getting into full-season ball.  They have also hit on a lot of trades (Brandish, Cano, Povich, McDermott) and will continue to supplement the pipeline through additional trades.  Etzel, Fabian, EBJ, Horvath could all turn the dial up a notch or 2 and become big time prospects.
