Yeah, I'm baffled with that trade.

It's such a bizarre trade that you have to think something else is going on. Or that Beane thinks he's operating on some other level, looking at attributes nobody else considers (which is probably nonsense).

Johnson, Fuld, rentals of Lester, all giving up tangible assets, either money or players, for questionable returns. On a very resource-constrained team. Maybe Beane is on his way out and doesn't care about next year. Strange.

I would try and get the Marlins involved in a 3 team deal.

O's get Price, Zobrist

Marlins get Gonzo, D.Alvarez, Macfarland

Rays get Jacob Turner, Dylan Bundy, O's comp pick, Tim Berry

LOL! I kept waiting for the wacky 9-player, 3-team trade where the O's always come out on top.

Who exactly do the Marlins give up in this deal? Ah . . . . . nevermind . . .

Apparently Jacob Turner for an established major league starter, our best hitting prospect and a lefty reliever.

According to COTS, Beane has a contract extension already in place from 2015-2019.

Not if Milone is damaged goods and Cespedes continues to put up a .300 OBP the rest of his career, both of which I think are very likely.

Even with a .300 OBP he is a 3.0 WAR player this year and is a power pull hitter which will play well in Fenway. I have never seen any indication that Milone is damaged goods - why would the Twins take him if he was. What he is at least league average left handed starter who is 27 years old. Great deal for Minnesota.
