I agree that pitchers are for the most part automatic outs. But that's how the game was drawn up. Nine players take the field and nine guys bat. I enjoy the strategy too.

But people don't watch sports to see managers. And it's an artificial obstacle to drum up strategy. You could do that with any sport. "Not enough strategy in running? Lets add an American Gladiators style tennis ball shooting machine for the runners and see how they adjust to it." Any strategy in sports shouldn't be based on this defect we have put in the game that you now have to adjust to.

Watching someone do something they don't really get "paid" to do and aren't capable of doing at a professional level is not enjoyable to watch and should not be in sports.

So should we create rules that force Dwight Howard to shoot three's every game? He gets paid to play basketball, so he might as well be forced to partake in all aspects of the game.
