I am in awe. I have been following this sport for decades and I had never seen something like this. It's not like he was facing a punchless lineup. Those guys have been scalding hot, tough outs all of them, and he comes in and completely shuts them down. Not one time, but three times in the series. The last one on two days rest. This was a game 7 to tell your grandkids about.

It's still sinking in. In a series (a whole postseason) built on Royals' good luck and crazy amounts of breaks, it was easy to lose sight of one guy who stopped them every time it was needed. A total stud.

That delivery of his is special. Watching a crafty lefty work is one of the great experiences in baseball. The O's had their own in Andrew Miller, at least for half a season. Bumgarner is like an Andrew Miller who can pitch limitless innings.

Has to be the best game 7 since 2001.

The difference in demeanor between the Giants and the Royals throughout the series was amazing. The Giants did behave as they had been there before.

Let's be honest - they have.

I understand and even feel a lot of the angst with how the Royals carried themselves. And I keep hearing that phrase "act like you've been there before". But they haven't. This was totally new for them. Maybe now that they realize how much it sucks to lose a playoff series, they'll carry themselves a little better.

      Every year a couple of things happen that you hoped for, but didn’t really expect.  2022: Gunnar goes from lower top 100 prospect to best prospect in the game. 2023: Bradish goes from mid/back of rotation starter to no. 4 in the Cy Young voting.   This year, for me it’s Jordan Westburg going from looking like a decent major league starter into a star player.  It’s still early, and Westburg could hit some cold spells, but as I watch him play every day, I don’t think there’s anything flukey going on here.  He hits the ball hard almost every time, he’s very fundamentally sound, and he’s mentally tough.   I think we have a long time star on our hands. I’m also a starting to think Cole Irvin is a big story for 2024.   But I’m not as sure about that one.

      I have no idea why we haven't done this yet. We have the technology to remove human error. We have the ability to be above reproach in this modern gambling age. Let's get it done. The minor leagues already use it and as we heard, it has affected players coming from the minors to the majors (why we have different procedures in the minors vs the majors is beyond me, like when they used different balls). I can't see what the argument would be for the other side.

      MLB pitchers are typically used to throwing every fifth day. So not having days off, while an extra day is nice, is typical and their normal MO. But with a 6 man rotation (and therefore a 7 man bullpen), you would like to have a few days off to rest the pen. We have had enough trouble keeping the pen rested even with an 8 man bullpen. And we don’t have guys with options to send down and get fresh arms to cover innings in instances where the pen is overused.    even with the pitchers throwing well, we’ve used 7, 5 and 5 relievers over the last 3 games. Without the day off on either side of the nationals game, our pen would be exhausted.

      It was really bad. I will say it was consistently big and he gave Means a bunch of extra strikes too. I would prefer robo but consistently bad human is preferable to inconsistent or biased human.

      I feel an injury coming.   GRod pitches well and wakes up in the morning with some soreness.  The O's don't wait a few days to see if the soreness gets better.  They put him on the IL.  That is kind of abnormal and happened at the same time the O's needed a rotation spot. They could option Akin.
