I don't think anyone has been since Hardy signed the extension. What would be the point?

I should have said still feel he'd be a better SS than 3B. With the bat can't be argued, not so sure with the glove.

He was pretty poor for the White Sox, it is why he was so inexpensive to acquire.

Can you even remember who the O's gave up?

Miguel Chalas and somebody. I only know that because I saw him pitch at Norfolk once before he got sent.

I think he is better at third then he would be at short but that due to positional scarcity he might be more valuable at short.

Water under the bridge now, unless the Yanks try and move him to short in a few years.

9 times out of 10 Manny makes that play. ;)

True. It seems some of his throwing errors have come when he is shifted out of position. And angle on a ball at short is different than third. Not a surprise. I wonder if stats are kept on errors/range differences when guys are at a different position on the field due to shift

    • The chances of Cook getting a chance this year are slim and none and slim left town.   Odds are against him getting picked in the Rule 5 too.   Still, he’s the kind of guy who gets a chance somewhere sooner or later.
    • Stark contrast between the numbers for Bowie’s pitching staff and Norfolk’s. Obviously a lot of that is the offensive level at AA/AAA, but I’m curious if any of these ~25/26 year old pitchers in AA are late bloomers and have the requisite stuff to be MLB relievers. We’ve already seen Kade Strowd move up to AAA. Could any of these guys follow suit? They are all rule 5 eligible this offseason, they are going to need to be tested against AAA hitters this year to see if they are potential 40-man additions this offseason. Brandon Young, 25, 1.23 xFIP Zach Peek, 26, 2.25 xFIP Keegan Gillies, 26, 2.54 xFIP Trey McHough, 26, 2.90 xFIP Kyle Brnovich, 26, 3.41 xFIP Alex Pham, 24, 3.53 xFIP Carlos Tavera, 25, 3.70 xFIP Different offensive environment, but the only AAA pitchers with better than a 3.70 xFIP are Povich and Luis Gonzalez. Gillies, Peek and Pham all have inflated ERAs that don’t match their xFIP, so I don’t expect them to get bumped up to AAA anytime soon. But Juan Nunez in A+ is also a fringy prospect who is Rule 5 eligible this offseason and needs to be bumped up to AA, so with the number of poor performers in AAA and strong performers in AA I expect to see some shuffling. Very few from this group will turn out to be MLB pitchers, if any. But you never know what pitchers have MLB quality stuff and just need some kind of adjustment to unlock it. I’ll be paying close attention if the Orioles choose any from this group to be moved up to AAA and/or converted into full-time shorter RP roles in the near future.
    • Does she prefer Baseball Reference or Fangraphs?
    • But technically Mike Bloomberg is part of the ownership group and he’s far wealthier than Steve Cohen I believe. But again, this is really just a technicality as Bloomberg was just a contributor and won’t significantly invest in the O’s. Still, a wealthy group of individuals on par or better with other MLB owners.
    • Expected accuracy is different for each umpire apparently. Diaz has an expected accuracy of 91%? He shouldn't be calling games.
    • Hopefully, that long rain delay won’t have a lasting effect on her.
    • This actually makes some sense. If Kremer sticks in the rotation he could also go every 5th day to help manage innings for the others. Only issue is what that does to the bullpen. I could come around to that.
