Pitching and defense go hand in hand in more ways than one. The obvious one is defense helps pitching. But pitching can help defense too. When your K rate is low you put a lot of pressure on the D. Too many balls in play and there will be bloops and bad hops, guaranteed. I have no time or inclination for research right now, but I suspect that O's pitching does not have a high K rate.
