Evaluating pitchers can be so maddening. ERod flipped a switch the day he was traded. Zach went into spring training 2014 as an afterthought. The day we signed Gonzo, it barely got a mention on Roch's blog. And here they are dominating tonight.

I was just saying that Buck leaving O'Day in after he loaded the bases with no one out isn't necessarily proof Buck "trusts" DOD. That's just how he manages.

Indeed. I was more focusing on the pitchers tonight, but for all of the analysis and expertise put into pitchers, it can be a real crapshoot as to which ones put it all together at the ML level. Matusz was supposed to be a #3 starter at worst….ended up a loogy in his prime years.
